It has been a remarkable journey for Clonakilla when John Kirk planted the first vines in 1971 he had no idea that that his vineyard would one day be celebrated as one of the best in the country. There have been trials and tribulations along
the way along with moments of unprecedented success. One thing has become important over time Murrumbateman and Shiraz are one of those rare combinations in the world of wine that can produce something truly exciting. The 1992 Clonakilla Shiraz is without a doubt one of Canberra Districts finest reds writes Gerald Atkinson n the Canberra Times, In 1999 the Clonakilla Shiraz was named New South Wales new Wine of the Year – Clonakilla have gone on to wine many awards over the years.

“It’s toasty warm and picturesque, with a fireplace and a wood oven, buzzy but not too much” – Cath Lawrence

”This lovely service and willingness to accommodate extends throughout, and we make ourselves at home here, spreading ourselves between our table and the couches by the open fire and the games corner. This is relaxed dining.” – Kirsten Lawson

”Roasted sweetbreads hits the spot. It’s just a simple pile of braised glands in a quite rich, veloute-like sauce. It’s simple, gusty and fits the detail of nose-to-tail eating…..All up, it’s a pleasant experience.”-Bryan Martin
